Ground was broken on Aug. 8, for a new Women’s Care Center in the Fargo-Moorhead area. The new location is in Moorhead at 220 Hwy 75 North, the second location in the community. The Fargo Women’s Care Center on University Avenue will continue its mission of “helping women make life-saving decisions in Eastern North Dakota and Western Minnesota.”
The groundbreaking ceremony was a small event held in commemoration of the start of the building project. Those in attendance were the staff, board members, architect, general contractor, and major financial supporters of the project.
In her remarks, Women’s Care Center Executive Director Angela Wambach said the location of the new center was strategic. “A second location for a Women’s Care Center, particularly in Moorhead, had been on our radar for several years. We had begun working towards a different location. But when Roe vs. Wade was overturned, abortions became illegal in North Dakota, and the news that the abortion facility was relocating (from Fargo) to Moorhead, we knew where we desired to be. With years of first-hand experience, Women’s Care Center National has seen that there is no more life-saving location for a pregnancy center than being next door to an abortion clinic. When we are here, women will come for second opinions, and they will come because they will see there is an alternative. Being next door will truly save lives.”
The new location is expected to be open and serving women in the area in May of 2025.
