To honor its long, faith-based history, Riverview Place is celebrating the lives of all residents who have passed by offering a month-long event. Founded by The Presentation Sisters, the campus’ foundress – Nano Nagle – was known in Cork, Ireland as “The Lady of The Lantern” because she educated children by day and nursed the sick by night. Today, Riverview Place not only cares for its senior residents, but also strives to offer compassionate care and services to their loves ones, as well.
“In the spirit of Christmastime we want to reach out to family members and friends who are mourning the loss of our former residents and loved ones in order to offer them hope,” says Kari Dew, Executive Director of Riverview Place. “We understand this can be a time of sadness, whether they lost a loved one during the past year or two, or even years ago.”
From now until January 1, Riverview Place is presenting an Annual Holiday Lights & Lanterns, from 7 to 11 p.m. daily – a scenic drive along 12th Street, which loops around the campus’ 22-acre property. At no cost, the public is invited to enjoy sparkling lights and lanterns as they drive through Riverview Place’s beautiful woods. Residents and friends were invited to honor someone who died by decorating a forget-me-not-tree with personal mementos, lights and a lantern provided by Riverview Place.
“The Holiday Lights & Lantern event is a beautiful way to honor our wife, mom and grandma, Karen June Baeth,” says Kara Baeth Kluvers, daughter of a former Riverview Place resident. “Our family chose a tree that Dad can see as he looks out his window, which we decorated with ornaments that remind us of Mom.
“Lovely pink poinsettias and a variety of vibrant ornaments in shades of pink fill the tree. Pink is a color she wore so beautifully,” adds Kluvers. “We want to thank Riverview Place for the opportunity to keep the memory of our loved one shining brightly.”
In addition to the scenic drive, the CHI Living Communities’ campus invites all members of the public to submit prayer requests for loved one who are experiencing a crisis this holiday season. Riverview residents, including the Presentation Sisters, will pray on their behalf. Those requests, which will become part of intentions offered by Riverview Place’s Prayer Circle, should be emailed to [email protected].
“As a proud member of Fargo, and to fulfill our long-standing sacred ministry, Riverview Place members feel very privileged to serve former residents, their families and all community members through this event and our prayers in order to help brighten Christmastime for them,” states Dew. “We sincerely hope they know our compassion is with them during the holidays and throughout the entire year.”
