Dalton Booth was born and raised in Fargo, North Dakota. Growing up, Dalton enjoyed attending Mass with his family at Nativity Church in Fargo. While he enjoyed Mass and his involvement in religious education at the parish, Dalton’s prayer life didn’t blossom until he became involved at St. Paul’s Newman Center on the campus of North Dakota State University. As a freshman in college, Dalton joined a bible study and was continually challenged by his peers to live his life for Jesus. He began attending weekday Mass regularly and continued to pursue a life of prayer and virtue as a college student. During his time at NDSU, Dalton undertook Exodus 90 with some friends at the Newman Center, devoting himself to prayer, asceticism, and fraternity for the three months leading up to Easter. It was during this prayerful time that Dalton first experienced a call from the Holy Spirit to consider the priesthood. Consequently, he moved into the discernment hall at Newman Living to further explore his vocation. After a challenging year of intentional discernment, Dalton found consolation after getting to know some of the other Fargo seminarians, men like him who were trying to follow the Will of God for their lives. Several vocation-centered retreats and events led to greater peace and clarity in Dalton’s heart, leading him to apply for seminary for the Diocese of Fargo.
