St. Michael's Catholic Indian Mission Church
Saint Michael, ND
Wife: Gail
Randy was born and raised in Devils Lake, ND, the son of Rudy and Dolores Severinson, the middle son of three boys. Growing up he attended St. Joseph Catholic Church and attended Central High School in Devils Lake. In 1982 Randy married is high school sweetheart Gail Nelson. They lived in the St. Michael area until moving to Grand Forks in 1989. Randy has been a welder/fabricator and manager for 26 years and was also a member of the North Dakota Army National Guard for 9 years. Randy and Gail have two children and two grandsons.
Randy and his family joined Holy Family Parish after moving to Grand Forks. Lacking an authentic fervor and devotion to the Lord, his faith struggled. His relationship with the Lord dramatically deepened after several moving, spiritual experiences. After attending a Cursillo weekend and his oldest brother becoming a deacon, he went through a long conversion. Subsequently, he began considering a call to the diaconate when encouraged by several permanent deacons.
He enjoys helping out with Mass at the senior living centers and distributing the holy Eucharist to the elderly. He has been involved with TMIY, Catholic Man Night, Men of the Cross, and the Cursillo movement. He now does things for God’s glory rather than his own. Randy feels truly blessed to be able to follow the call of the Holy Spirit with his wife at his side. They relocated to Saint Michael, ND, near his hometown of Devils Lake in July 2023.
