Deacon Candidate Steve Splonskowski

Steven Splonskowski was born to Mike and Karen Splonskowski of Lake Park, MN. He is the fourth child and oldest boy of thirteen children. The Catholic faith, sacraments, and relationship with Jesus, Mary and the saints were the absolute pillar and center of family life in the Splonskowski household. 

From 1997-1999 Steve began discerning a call to Holy Orders at Cardinal Muench seminary in Fargo. Steve attended classes at NDSU and was active at St. Paul’s Newman Center where he met Jacinta Goering. 

Steve and Jacinta were joined in Holy Matrimony on August 5, 2000 at St. Mary’s Cathedral in Fargo. They live on a small farm where they raise their three boys and four girls. 

Steve was Executive Director for the Real Presence Radio Network from 2007-2020. He is a coaching consultant to Catholic Radio affiliates of EWTN and is the Office of Evangelization Project Manager for the Diocese of Fargo.

Steve felt called to resume his discernment of Holy Orders through the diaconate when he accidentally read the gospel, instead of the first reading, during a daily Mass on pilgrimage. The priest quipped afterwards that "maybe it was a sign of a call."  After five years of spiritual direction and discernment, Steve and Jacinta decided that the Lord was inviting them to “step out onto the water.”

Steve and Jacinta see this journey as a spiritual quest for their entire family and an invitation to service to the Church.
